Where shall I go from your spirit? or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend up into heaven, you are there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, you are there.
(Psalm 139:7-8 AKJV)
MEDITATE AND DIGEST: NEVER TOO DEEP TO SAVE
My husband and I were at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland this summer, where I was touched by more than a little bit of Jesus. We were leisurely going through the exhibits and I happened to look at a piece of paper written by Jimi Hendrix. It contained trashed lyrics for his song, “Purple Haze” and was inspired by a dream that he had. In it, he was deep under the sea when a purple haze came upon him, confusing and disorienting him. In the dream, he was saved only by his faith in Jesus.
Some would dismiss this dream as a result of all the drugs, which later took his life. I know my Jesus, though, and I’ve heard too many testimonies of Him reaching out clearly and supernaturally to those lost in the deepest pits of addiction and sin and delivering them.
No matter where you are right now, He is there to save. His love reached into the very depths of hell and won the victory. You cannot get yourself out (none of us did), so my prayer today is that you hit your knees in the middle of the mess you’ve made and earnestly cry out to the One, the Only One, who is both willing and able. Then shout to your purple haze, “Jesus saves!”
