A Place of Thanksgiving

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Isaiah 12:3 ESV

I have this verse on a painting of a covered bridge in my house. It sits in a spot where it is in my direct line of vision when I exercise in the mornings. I bought it several years ago, but it has proved very valuable over this last year and half.

There were times when I happened to look at it and wasn’t feeling much joy. I remember thinking at one point, “Lord, I really want to be full of joy right now, even in the middle of these difficult circumstances,” but I was looking at it as a command.

There was a brief, still moment when I heard the Holy Spirit speak to my heart, “It’s not a command. It’s a promise.”

What a shift in perspective! Many of us are going through very challenging things. Sometimes joy seems so far away, but God isn’t shaking a finger saying, “You should have it no matter what!” He is telling you that He promises you will have it. That truth births such a joy and heart of gratitude! Rest in the arms of Jesus and His promises. He is your covering and He will get you to the other side of whatever difficulty you are going through.

Happy Thanksgiving!

NOTE: The word “salvation” in this verse in Hebrew is, Yeshuah, the actual name of Jesus. Be blessed as you joyfully draw water and life from Jesus Himself.
