Don’t Let a Plateau Get You Down

MEDITATE AND DIGEST: LOVE

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28 NLT)

AT A STAND STILL?

My daughter was learning about dromedary last week. They are camels used for thousands of years by Bedouins to carry loads. I heard her relate an interesting note that when the “burden” or load placed on these camels is too heavy, they won’t budge.

This made me think of my own life. There are times when I feel so tired of vying for something good (I’m talking God good), yet seeing minimal results, that I feel as if I can’t move. This verse is a great reminder of what to do in those proverbial plateau moments.

Jesus provides real rest and will give stamina for His work here on earth. When we go to Him He lifts the burden of salvation that we are carrying on our own shoulders and offers this gentle reminder, “That is My job, Beloved.” Oh the treasure of that exchange!

May you be encouraged today to lay all of your cares on Him. He cares for you. Don’t give up! Allow Him to take that heavy burden and give you His light load that enables you to keep pressing forward. At the proper time, you will reap your harvest, Dear One. He’s promised it. (See 1 Peter 5:7, Galatians 6:9)
