When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. Matthew 14:34 NASB
(Digestion 2 of 2)
MEDITATE AND DIGEST: PATIENCE – ESTABLISHING GOOD GROUND
In the last devotion, we discussed coming to the land of Gennesaret and the blessings that abound there. Today, our meditation draws Life out of the first half of this verse: “When they had crossed over”.
If you are reading this, you might be in the middle of a season where you feel so far from a garden of riches. Darling Child of God, gaze at Jesus – the Word – and see hope where you are right now. The verses immediately preceding today’s mediation, Matthew 14:22-33, discuss the time the disciples were getting tossed in a storm and Jesus came to them walking on the water. Please read those passages now.
What I want to point out to you today is that being a Beloved Child of God doesn’t mean life will be perfect and you will never experience bad times. Jesus makes it clear that you will experience storms in life. It is in those places that you are given a great opportunity to come face to face with the King of kings. These difficult seasons provide you an occasion to worship Jesus, the Overcomer, and see Him more clearly as Almighty God. This is faith refined and it is crossing over that place that will bring you to the “Garden of Riches”.
Be encouraged today. Hold your gaze directly on Jesus, the author and perfector of your faith. Those winds are coming to an end and your Perfect Savior is bringing you safely to the other side where His blessings of grace abound. Believe He is willing and able, and worship Him for He is good. His love endures forever!
