And has seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. (Acts 9:12 AKJV)
PATIENCE: A REWARD WORTH WAITING FOR
I love this moment in history. Ananias is just an obedient man of God. We hear nothing else of him, but he was used mightily for the Kingdom of God in this task to participate in the conversion of the Apostle Paul.
There are many men and women like this… Silent partners that receive little or no recognition here on earth but make no mistake, heaven is watching and recording.
I recently read about the homecoming of a missionary named Henry Morrison. He and his wife had been working for the Lord in Africa for 40 years and were finally returning to the US. When their ship reached the New York harbor they saw cheering crowds and a band. Henry’s heart leapt that they weren’t forgotten in their absence. When they went to leave the ship, a police officer stopped them to wait.
They found out that President Teddy Roosevelt was on the ship returning from an African hunting holiday. By the time they were allowed to disembark, the crowds and celebration had dissipated following the President. In the quiet of an old hotel just a few blocks away, Henry hit his knees spilling all his disappointment to God about his many years of labor for the Lord being unrecognized at his homecoming while the President received such a warm welcome from a pleasure trip that lasted only three weeks. In that moment of self-pity, he felt the gentle touch of the Lord’s hand on his shoulder and His loving voice reminding him, “But you’re not home yet.”
Beloved, be encouraged today that whatever you are doing for the Lord, it is important. Keep laboring in love for Him and His people. No matter how much (or little) recognition you get here on earth, you can be sure you will receive your prize when you get Home.
For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.
(Hebrews 6:10 ESV)
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.
(Colossians 3:23-24 NASB)
“The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’
(Matthew 25:40 NASB)
