Flashing Back to the Words God Highlighted During Our Trial with Bill #2 – New Life IS Coming
(Originally posted on Caring Bridge – 3/6/16)
Still in Nashville, we took a boat trip to Ashland City yesterday and spent the night at that marina with some new friends. Bill was able to drive the boat a bit. Just like his sister, he’s a natural.
It’s a beautiful marina here and a refreshing change of scenery. I went for a walk this chilly morning. This was my church time, my time with God for prayer, praise, and open ears. While I do miss going to an actual building and more importantly miss the people, I am so grateful that my Daddy God is ever present with me. This is my daily bread and I really need it each day.
This morning, I started with praise. As I was walking the new terrain, I was just grateful for the scenery. It was cold and foggy, but everything still seemed crisp and clear in front of me. I passed a bare tree… “New life is coming.”
As I continued to walk, the Lord ministered to me about how many times, as in our situation right now, things appear to be in a holding pattern. This season may look dry and dormant, yet it is actually anything but. God is strengthening and securing a greater faith in Christ. A real rest in His love and finished work of forgiveness, redemption, and restoration. He is also moving for life and victory in those around us. While we wait, He works. The promise is coming.
As I continued to walk, my mind was brought to the scene at the foot of the cross. Nothing seemed more devastating to the hearts of the followers of Jesus. I’m sure they felt bleak and confused. As Jesus was crucified, I’m also certain there was a smug moment where Satan thought he’d really got one over on God. Its hard to undertand how he could believe that for even a moment, but arrogance and rebellion are not influenced by Truth and are quick to act without thought or recourse.
On that day and the three days that followed, the disciples couldn’t see what God was doing but He was doing much. In the realm of the Spirit, where our eyes can’t see, Jesus was winning a greater victory than His people could have ever imagined.
New life was coming.
God encouraged my heart with this. He was securing our victory. Because of His resurrection, there is a New Captain in town. The enemy can hit, but he cannot stay. New life is coming for my son. Just like the cross, Satan wishes he hadn’t done this to my family, because Great is our God and mighty is his fall!
We stand on Mercy. We stand on the truth of the resurrection. We stand on Our Savior, our righteousness in Christ, and we shout His name from the rooftops, even to the spirit world. “Jesus is the Victor!”
His purpose was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to the eternal purpose that He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Ephesians 3:10-11 BSB)
And having disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
(Colossians 2:15 BSB)
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.
(Mark 16:15 ESV)
“In righteousness you will be established; You will be far from oppression, for you will not fear; And from terror, for it will not come near you. “If anyone fiercely assails you it will not be from Me. Whoever assails you will fall because of you.
(Isaiah 54:14-15 NASB)
No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, said the LORD.
(Isaiah 54:17 AKJV)
