But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you have not believed Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”
(Numbers 20:12 NASB)
MEDITATE AND DIGEST: FAITHFULNESS
God is holy. Period. There is nothing you can do that will change that truth. Though you cannot take away His holiness, your behavior will either mask or manifest it to creation.
This verse offers a beautiful example of faith in action; or lack thereof. Moses was told to speak to the rock and water would pour from it. Instead, he struck the rock. The response of the Lord here gives us a glimpse into the driving force of his conduct.
God, who knows the heart, called Moses out in unbelief. This unbelief resulted in disobedience and God was not exalted as Holy in that moment. Your choices matter, Church. Every decision you make carries the opportunity to show the world God’s glory and holiness. Will you choose to believe the Lord Jesus and His Word in all things today? You are not alone in this choice. His Holy Spirit is there to help you do it. Let it be your greatest aspiration this and every day. The cross has paved the Way.
Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
(Hebrews 3:12-13 NASB)
Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”
(Mark 9:24 NASB)
And he said to them, When you pray, say, Our Father which are in heaven, Hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
(Luke 11:2 AKJV)
But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
(James 1:25 ESV)
Dear friends… Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
